Newt Gingrich Opposes 'Gang of Eight's' Immigration Bill

During the 2012 presidential campaign, Republican presidential hopeful Newt Gingrich was outflanked on his right by Mitt Romney on immigration during the primaries. But, with the Gang of Eights" immigration reform bill passing the Senate last month, Gingrich had harsh words for the legislation championed by U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla. In an email sent out late Friday, Gingrich praised House conservatives who are poised to kill the bill.

Allen West's 2016 Online Straw Poll Won by Ted Cruz

Former Congressman Allen West held an online straw poll between candidates for the Republican presidential nomination in 2016 through his Allen West Guardian Fund PAC -- and the winner was Ted Cruz.

The senator from Texas took 58 percent of the vote when matched against Rand Paul in a runoff. While the Florida Republican did not include himself as one of the contenders, besides Cruz and Paul, West included a host of possible presidential candidates including Marco Rubio, Jeb Bush, Condi Rice, Donald Trump, Paul Ryan, Scott Walker, Rick Santorum, and more.

Florida Congressmen Urge UN Action on Cuba-North Korea Ties

U.S. Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, R-Fla., the chairwoman of the Middle East and North Africa Subcommittee, led a group of bipartisan congressmen, including Florida Democrat U.S. Rep. Ted Deutch, in sending a letter to Secretary of State John Kerry asking him to push the U.N. on the matter of a North Korea ship stopped in Panama this week. The ship was returning from Cuba with missile equipment.

U.S. Rep. Steve Southerland, R-Fla., took aim at the Transportation Security Authority (TSA) after reports emerged that TSA officials gave airport valets the green light to search cars in Rochester, N.Y. Southerland sent a letter to TSA Administrator John Pistole on Thursday night.

Liz Cheney Starts Out Behind Mike Enzi in Wyoming GOP Primary

Liz Cheney, the daughter of former Vice President Dick Cheney, announced earlier this week that she will challenge U.S. Sen. Mike Enzi, R-Wyo., in the Republican primaries come 2014. A poll released on Friday shows she starts off as the underdog to topple the incumbent senator.

Harper Polling took a poll of likely Republican primary voters which found Enzi with a comfortable lead. He takes 55 percent in the poll while Cheney gets 21 percent.

Ron Paul Group Sounds the Alarm on More Gun Control

The president of a group chaired by former Congressman Ron Paul is warning supporters that, with the filibuster deal in place, Democrats in charge of the U.S. Senate could turn next to gun control.

John Tate, the president of the Campaign for Liberty which Paul chairs, sent a message to supporters on Thursday insisting U.S. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., could soon push gun control legislation.
