Freshman U.S. Rep. Ron DeSantis, R-Fla., is the vice chairman of the U.S. Subcommittee on Economic Growth, Job Creation and Regulatory Affairs. The American Conservative Union (ACU) is leading a campaign to impeach U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder due to his actions after George Zimmerman was found not guilty in the death of Trayvon Martin.

Gregg Keller of the ACU sent out a message to supporters on Thursday announcing the campaign.

On Thursday afternoon, Gov. Rick Scott announced that the unemployment rate in June remained at 7.1 percent, the same as it had been in May. During June, 2,300 private-sector jobs were created in the Sunshine State. The national unemployment average for June stood at 7.6 percent.

On Thursday, Gov. Rick Scott named Esther Jacobo as interim Secretary of the Department of Children and Families to replace David Wilkins who has resigned the post. Jacobo had been regional managing director for the department covering Miami-Dade and Monroe counties. Her background also includes being an assistant state attorney in Miami-Dade and being DCFs deputy director of Childrens Legal Services (CLS) and serving in the state attorneys office as division chief of the Domestic Crimes Unit.

The Republican Party of Florida (RPOF) shows no signs of slowing down its attacks on former Gov. Charlie Crist, a former Republican who joined the Democrats in 2012 and is expected to run for his new partys gubernatorial nomination. On Thursday afternoon, the RPOF unveiled the relaunching of a website which was created by the Florida Democratic Party in 2008 to attack Crist who was then being considered by John McCains campaign for the vice presidential spot on the Republican ticket.

In the aftermath of the George Zimmerman decision, former Congressman Allen West is taking aim at U.S. Attorney General Eric Holders criticism of Floridas Stand Your Ground law. Despite losing his congressional seat in 2012, West, a favorite of the tea party movement, has opened the door to a political comeback in 2016.

Add another name to the possible field of Republican presidential candidates lining up in 2016 -- U.S. Rep. Peter King, R-N.Y.

With Democratic congressional hopeful Gwen Graham headed out to Jefferson County for a fundraiser on Thursday, the Republican Party of Florida (RPOF) is looking to remind voters about presidential candidates she has supported in the past. Graham is seeking the Democratic nomination to challenge U.S. Rep. Steve Southerland, R-Fla., in 2014.

On his Politics Nation show on MSNBC on Wednesday, Al Sharpton interviewed Rachel Jeantel on her role in the George Zimmerman trial. Sharpton has been a defender of Jeantel who has been attacked on a number of fronts during the trial. During the interview, Sharpton praised Jeantel for keeping her composure during the trial.

Responding to news that a North Korea ship was stopped in Panama after obtaining missile equipment in Cuba, U.S. Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, R-Fla., urged the Obama administration to take action on Wednesday
