Steve Southerland Demands Answers from the TSA

U.S. Rep. Steve Southerland, R-Fla., took aim at the Transportation Security Authority (TSA) after reports emerged that TSA officials gave airport valets the green light to search cars in Rochester, N.Y. Southerland sent a letter to TSA Administrator John Pistole on Thursday night.

At a time when the American peoples faith in their government has plummeted to historic lows, we can ill afford to have this sacred trust diminished any further, Southerland wrote. As the home of two major airports, two seaports and countless tourism opportunities, my district recognizes the importance of ensuring safe and secure travel. However, my constituents also closely guard their God-given personal right to privacy.
