Ron Paul Group Sounds the Alarm on More Gun Control

The president of a group chaired by former Congressman Ron Paul is warning supporters that, with the filibuster deal in place, Democrats in charge of the U.S. Senate could turn next to gun control.

John Tate, the president of the Campaign for Liberty which Paul chairs, sent a message to supporters on Thursday insisting U.S. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., could soon push gun control legislation.

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid learned an important lesson this past week, Tate wrote. In virtually any Senate game of chicken he can dream up, there will always be a few Republican U.S. senators he can count on to roll over for whatever he wants ... Im more afraid than ever that you and I will see gun control back on the U.S. Senate floor in the coming weeks.

Tate turned his fire to U.S. Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., for leading the Cut and Run Caucus to help Reid.

Senator McCains decision to cut and run under the nuclear option threat means Senator Reid can easily clear the Senates calendar for something big, Tate insisted. What that could be is anyones guess.

But the truth is, even before the tragedy in Newtown, Conn., last December, gun control was at the top of President Obamas priority list for the new Congress, Tate added. Since that horrific day, the gun-grabbers have done everything possible to take advantage of the tragedy.

Tate announced his group would launch a No Guns Deals campaign to ensure Republicans in the Senate remain opposed to gun-control legislation including increased registration requirements.
