Rick Scott made a stop in Tampa Thursday for his "It's Your Money" tax tour, and the Republican Party of Florida wants to know why potential Democratic candidates for governor have been quiet on reducing taxes. RPOF Press Secretary Susan Hepworth explained it had been 12 days since Gov. Scott called for a massive tax cut but noted that potential gubernatorial candidates Charlie Crist and Alex Sink have been silent over the matter.

Pastor Terry Jones, who has made national headlines for his Quran burning events, was arrested on Wednesday night before he could burn 2,998 Qurans -- one for each victim of the 9/11 terrorist attacks -- in Polk County. Jones had applied to hold a Quran burning event in a park but was denied by the Polk County Board of Commissioners on Tuesday. Jones was arrested after his truck was pulled over with Qurans already covered in kerosene and bottles of additional kerosene. He faces charges for unlawfully transporting fuel and openly carrying a gun.

U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., continued to call for defunding President Barack Obamas federal health-care law on Thursday. Rubio sent out an email to supporters on Thursday warning conservatives that time is running out to defund Obamacare and the fall might be the last chance to kill the law. Things have only gotten worse, Rubio wrote after noting he had been calling for defunding the law for six months. Now all Americans have begun to realize the damaging implications of this disastrous law.

A new Rasmussen Reports poll showed that nearly three-quarters of likely U.S. voters believe too many Americans are dependent on the federal government for financial help. The poll found 67 percent of American adults think there are too many in this country who are dependent on the government for financial aid -- a number that has risen slightly from 64 percent in September of last year.

Gov. Rick Scott announced on Tuesday that he appointed Rep. Erik Fresen, R-Miami, to serve on the Board of Control for Southern Regional Education (SREB). The SREB was created in 1948 as a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization that works to improve public education at every level, from pre-K through Ph.D. in the 16 Southern regional states it serves. The board includes the governor and four gubernatorial appointees from each member state, including at least one state legislator and one educator.

A new Rasmussen Reports poll showed voters increasingly trust Republicans more than Democrats to handle issues on national security. Forty-seven percent of likely U.S. voters now trust Republicans more when it comes to dealing with national security and the War on Terror, which is up 4 points from July and is the highest level of trust in the GOP on this issue since October. Just 32 percent now trust Democrats more, which is down from 40 percent since October 2009.

On Wednesday, Gov. Rick Scott hit the First Coast to announce Vistakon will expand in Jacksonville, creating 100 new jobs and bringing $218 million in capital to the region in the next three years. Scott was on the First Coast on Wednesday to continue his tour showcasing his proposal to cut $500 million in taxes and fees and to take part in a 9/11 remembrance ceremony in St. Johns. Vistakon, which is owned by Johnson & Johnson, has been a cornerstone of Jacksonvilles Southside, employing around 1,800 residents of the First Coast.
