Voters Think Too Many Americans are Dependent on Government
A new Rasmussen Reports poll showed that nearly three-quarters of likely U.S. voters believe too many Americans are dependent on the federal government for financial help.
The poll found 67 percent of American adults think there are too many in this country who are dependent on the government for financial aid -- a number that has risen slightly from 64 percent in September of last year.
Only 10 percent of Americans say they are personally dependent upon government financial aid, and over half -- 53 percent -- of those who are dependent on government aid think too many Americans are relying on the federal government for financial assistance.
The national survey of 1,000 adults was conducted Sept. 5-6. The margin of sampling error is +/- 3 percentage points with a 95 percent level of confidence.
