Rick Scott Reappoints Doug Bournique to St. Johns District

Gov. Rick Scott has reappointed Doug Bournique, the executive vice president of the Indian River Citrus League, to the Area 5 seat on the governing board of the St. Johns River Water Management District.

Bournique, 60, of Vero Beach, has been with the Indian River Citrus League since 1979.

Bournique's extensive involvement in agricultural and water-management issues includes serving on the Indian River County Agriculture Advisory Council since 1996 and on the Florida Agriculture Water Policy Group since 1999.

Tropical Storm Warning Extended to the Suwannee River

The warning for Tropical Storm Debby, lingering as it grows in the northern Gulf of Mexico, has been extended eastward at 11 a.m. EDT, according to the National Weather Service.

And the forecast is for the center of Debby, which is hitting the northern Gulf Coast with heavy rains, to linger over water for a few days before making landfall.

Warnings are now in effect for the coast of Louisiana from the mouth of the Pearl River, to south of the Suwannee River in Floridas panhandle.

A watch is in effect from south of the Suwannee River to Anclote Key.
