Politicos Maggie Haberman is reporting that former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani is thinking about running for the Republican presidential nomination in 2012. Giuliani ran for the Republican presidential nod in 2008 and came up short.

Tom Stearns, who is running for CFO without party affiliation, has been burning up the campaign trail to catch up with Republican Senate President Jeff Atwater and Democratic candidate former Rep. Loranne Ausley. Stearns, who formerly served as the president of the American Society of Public Administrators and as the assistant tax collector to both Hillsborough and Pasco counties, crossed the state in the past week to gain attention to his candidacy, hitting Tampa, Palm Beach Gardens, DeLand, New Smyrna Beach, Orlando, Dade City and Fort Myers.

The controversial and colorful U.S. Rep. Michele Bachmann, R-Minn., endorsed Republican candidate former Rep. Dennis Ross in the race to replace U.S. Rep. Adam Putnam. Bachmann, a favorite of the tea party movement and the founder of the Congressional Tea Party Caucus, slammed the Florida TEA Party and Randy Wilkinson, its candidate in the race. Alex Sink went on MSNBC's Hardball Tuesday to answer Chris Matthews' questions about Florida politics and her breaking the rules during the debate the night before. Sink told Matthews, on live TV, that the makeup artist approached her on the set and said, "I just got this message, I don't know who it's from." She said she thought it might be from her daughter studying abroad, so she looked. A half hour later news analysts at CNN said they listened to the recording very closely and could hear the makeup artist say, "I have a message from the staff."

Three of four candidates in the hotly contested race for Floridas 8th Congressional District seat are scheduled to meet in a debate Wednesday night. U.S. Rep. Alan Grayson, D-Orlando, will be joined by TEA Party candidate Peg Dunmire and No Party Affiliation hopeful George Metcalfe at 7 p.m. at the Winter Park Civic Center.

The Florida TEA Party announced today that its 8th Congressional District candidate, Peg Dunmire, received the endorsement of the state Libertarian Party and the Conservative Party of Florida. The Libertarian Party is the state's fifth largest (after the generically named Independent and Independence parties). But the Conservative Party is not yet registered with the Division of Elections and, therefore, has no official membership.

The Florida Immigrant Coalition wants gubernatorial candidates Rick Scott and Alex Sink to pledge their opposition to any law similar to the one recently passed in Arizona allowing law enforcement officers to detain illegal immigrants during routine traffic stops. A petition, signed by a slough of immigrant advocate groups, as well as the Florida Catholic Conference, the NAACP and the ACLU, will be delivered to the Miami offices of each candidate Wednesday.

Republican U.S. Rep. Connie Mack targeted Venezuelan leader Hugo Chavez on Tuesday -- and ripped into the Obama administration for not standing up to him. Mack, the ranking Republican on the House Subcommittee on the Western Hemisphere, noted that Chavez was continuing a world tour to push his countrys oil exportation.

Republican congressional candidate Mike Prendergast, who is taking on Democratic U.S. Rep. Kathy Castor, received a boost on Tuesday in his bid to knock off the incumbent when he was endorsed by former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee. Huckabee, who ran for the Republican presidential nomination in 2008 and is considering making another attempt in 2012, backed Prendergast through HuckPAC.

Libertarian Senate candidate Alex Snitker isn't looking to pick a fight with his party, but he quibbles with the immigration statement put out by the national chairman, Mark Hinkle. In a news release, "Time to Re-Legalize Immigration," Hinkle says it's time to demolish the "myth" that a welfare state acts as a magnet for illegal immigration. Bottom line: Hinkle wants to legalize illegal behavior, and let Americans pay the price.
