Final CD 8 Debate Set For Wednesday; Webster Expected To Skip, Again

Three of four candidates in the hotly contested race for Floridas 8th Congressional District seat are scheduled to meet in a debate Wednesday night.

U.S. Rep. Alan Grayson, D-Orlando, will be joined by TEA Party candidate Peg Dunmire and No Party Affiliation hopeful George Metcalfe at 7 p.m. at the Winter Park Civic Center.

The fourth candidate, Republican Daniel Webster, has not confirmed his attendance. He has refused to participate in any forums that include Dunmire and Metcalfe -- a stance that has precluded any showdowns between Webster and Grayson, who has declined to debate Webster one-on-one.

Wednesday night's debate, which is free and open to the public, is co-sponsored by the Barry University Dwayne O. Andreas School of Law and the Orlando Sentinel.

This bellwether race is being watched across the nation, said Kim Shepard, honorary chair of Barry Laws student-led Public Leadership Initiative. We expect a lively discussion that will help citizens in the district make an informed decision.
