TEA Candidate Endorsement Reveals New Political Party Forming in Florida

The Florida TEA Party announced today that its 8th Congressional District candidate, Peg Dunmire, received the endorsement of the state Libertarian Party and the Conservative Party of Florida.

The Libertarian Party is the state's fifth largest (after the generically named Independent and Independence parties). But the Conservative Party is not yet registered with the Division of Elections and, therefore, has no official membership.

What's more, CP Florida Chairman Robert Palin said his embryonic organization has not endorsed Dunmire in the general election.

CP-USA Chairman H. Michael Hervey, speaking from the party's national headquarters in California, said the Florida affiliate backed Dunmire during the primary cycle when Ron Eldridge was state chairman. But now that Eldridge has been replaced, Palin says that endorsement is null and void.

"Ron Eldridge doesn't have the authority to speak for the party," Palin told Sunshine State News.
