Dissing Friedman, Libertarian Chairman Runs For The Border

Libertarian Senate candidate Alex Snitker isn't looking to pick a fight with his party, but he quibbles with the immigration statement put out by the national chairman, Mark Hinkle.

In a news release, "Time to Re-Legalize Immigration," Hinkle says it's time to demolish the "myth" that a welfare state acts as a magnet for illegal immigration. Bottom line: Hinkle wants to legalize illegal behavior, and let Americans pay the price.

Hinkle needs to brush up on his Milton Friedman studies, because the chairman is seriously off the reservation on this one.

Snitker gets it right when he says that immigration laws need to be enforced, that employers must be fined for hiring undocumented workers and that entitlements/benefits have to be withheld from illegals.

"You have to fix the system before throwing the doors open," Snitker said, who added that he has no problem with legal immigration.
