Jeb Bush Backs Connie Mack in GOP Senate Contest

Former Gov. Jeb Bush, who remains one of the most popular Republicans in the Sunshine State, announced Wednesday that he is throwing his allegiance to U.S. Rep. Connie Mack in the Republican primary fight to take on Democrat incumbent U.S. Sen. Bill Nelson.

Tom Rooney: 'New Low, Even for this Administration'

U.S. Rep. Tom Rooney, R-Tequesta, wants the U.S. Department of Justice to mind its own business when it comes to Florida reviewing its registered voter list.

With the state due to respond later today to an order by the DOJ to halt the review, Rooney has sent a letter to U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder demanding that the DOJ stay out of the Florida issue.

Legal Center, Attorney Spar Over Embattled Supreme Court Justices

The attorney representing three Florida Supreme Court justices branded as "baseless" any suggestions that his clients have acted improperly.

Speaking for Justices Barbara Pariente, Fred Lewis and Peggy Quince -- all of whom face retention election this November -- attorney Dan Stengle said the judges "have done nothing even beyond what a candidate for merit retention without opposition may lawfully and appropriately do."

Study: Corruption Rampant in Sunshine State; Bring on Ethics Reforms

It should come as no surprise that Florida, as one of the largest states in the nation, sits atop the list for corruption.

Between 2000 and 2010, federal officials made 781 corruption convictions involving Florida, just ahead of California, Texas and New York.

Integrity Florida, a start-up nonprofit focused on ethics reforms, believes 2013 could be the year when some long-sought reforms are finally given serious consideration by state lawmakers.

League of Women Voters, Rock the Vote Resume Voter Registration in Florida

Bolstered by a federal judge's decision, the League of Women Voters and Rock the Vote say they are back in the business of registering Florida voters.

Although both organizations registered voters prior to 2011, the passage of House Bill 1355 established "onerous and impracticable requirements for third-party voter registration," the groups said.

Now, after a federal judge preliminarily blocked the law's provision requiring that completed registration forms must be submitted within 48 hours, LWV and Rock the Vote registrars are heading back onto the streets.

Rick Scott Defends Rating Florida’s Elections Supervisors

Gov. Rick Scott defended a review of the state's supervisors of elections Wednesday on the radio.

"My whole administration is trying to come up with a way so you know how your dollars are being spent," Scott said during a lively interview with Bill Mick of WMMB 1240 AM in Melbourne.
