Rick Scott in Central Florida for Business Round-tables

Gov. Rick Scott will continue his rural county business round-table series today in Central Florida.

The governor sat down with business and government officials in the western Panhandle on Monday and North Florida on Tuesday.

The schedule for Thursday:

8 a.m.: Okeechobee County, Okeechobee County Historic Courthouse.

10 a.m.: Highlands County, Heartland National Bank, Lake Placid.

1 p.m.: Glades County, Glades County Historic Courthouse, Moore Haven.

Elite Media Distort Wisconsin Exit Polls and Results

They are at it again. Following what can only be described as a butt-kicking win for Gov. Scott Walker in Wisconsin's recall election, many media pundits were trying to "split the baby" by acknowledging Walker's win, but pointing to exit polls that show President Obama with a 7-point lead against Mitt Romney in that state.

Florida to DOJ: 'We Respectfully Disagree'

The state will not end efforts to keep ineligible voters from having a chance to cast a ballot, even though the U.S. Department of Justice deadline to stop the voter-list purge came and went Wednesday.

Instead, state officials want to know if the DOJ supports the possibly illegal attempt by the Obama administration-backed Department of Homeland Security to keep Florida for months from accessing a database to assist its efforts.

Gov. Scott Walker Moving to Prime Time at GOP Convention

Fresh with a victory over the statewide recall effort, Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker may now be in line to appear in Tampa this summer.

The Hill is reporting that the Republican governor may have earned a prime-time speaking spot at the party's national convention.

David Wilkins Gives Panel Some Cost Savings Plans

Buying in bulk, renegotiating leases and using proven private market companies to provide services from desktop computers to cell phones could save the state millions and increase productivity, the governor's efficiency czar told a task force Wednesday.

Speaking to members of the Government Efficiency Task Force, Department of Children and Families Secretary David Wilkins named earlier this year to also be Gov. Rick Scott's chief operating officer for government operations -- said savings from such efforts would allow the state to spend those funds on critical services.

Primary Battles Building Across Florida as Qualifying Continues

Rep. Kelli Stargel, R-Lakeland, and former Rep. Aaron Bean of Fernandina Beach made it official Wednesday, filing their qualifying paperwork to run for the Florida Senate.

Their entries expanded the number of Republican congressional and legislative primary contests that will occur across the state in August as the qualifying week enters its final two days.

So far there are 31 Republican primaries lined across Florida, including the statewide U.S. Senate contest and 10 congressional races.

Ex-Justice Official: Eric Holder Encourages 'Vote Thieves'

While citizen activists slog through jury excusal records and voter-registration rolls, a former U.S. Justice Department official says the federal government is illegally harassing Florida and U.S. Rep. Gus Bilirakis is demanding answers.

Hans von Spakovsky, a former counsel for civil rights at DOJ, charged that a letter from his former employer ordering Florida to stop removing noncitizen voters "directly abets vote thieves in a key state as [Attorney General Eric] Holder's boss seeks re-election."

Former Ethics Board Member: Don't Hold Your Breath for Florida Legislature to End Corruption

It may be true that the Sunshine State leads the nation in corruption, and that federal officials made 781 corruption convictions involving Florida between 2000 and 2010, but one former state ethics commissioner is convinced that nothing is going to be done about it.

This week, the Romney camp launched their efforts to reach out to Hispanic voters. Rubio was in near perfect accord with the Romney teams insistence that Hispanics have suffered economically under Barack Obamas administration.
