With George LeMieux Out, Connie Mack Tries to Focus on Bill Nelson

With George LeMieux bowing out of the Republican U.S. Senate primary, Connie Mack -- now an extremely heavy favorite to win the GOP nod -- thanked his former rival for backing him before trying to focus on the Democrats. But other Republicans in the race -- namely, former U.S. Rep. Dave Weldon -- show no signs of following LeMieux to the sidelines.

Despite engaging in some heated exchanges with LeMieux, Mack thanked his former rival after the former U.S. senator announced that he was ending his campaign.

Marco Rubio Goes to Bat for George Allen in Virginia

U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., continued to remain active in national politics on Wednesday as he went to bat for George Allens attempt to return to the U.S. Senate to represent Virginia.

Slamming Democratic leaders who don't fully believe in the free-enterprise system that control the Senate, Rubio praised Allens political record.

Rick Scott ‘Optimistic’ Supreme Court will Reject Obamacare

Gov. Rick Scott tells The Hill he is optimistic the U.S. Supreme Court will declare the Affordable Care Act, better known as Obamacare, unconstitutional.

But he added that if the court fails to make such a ruling, and the federal government doesnt repeal the law, Florida will comply.

Rick Scott Would Be 'Surprised' if Board OKs Significant Tuition Hikes

Gov. Rick Scott, who earlier this year vetoed a proposal that would have allowed universities to seek unlimited tuition hikes, doesnt believe the state Board of Governors will back the maximum hikes requested on Thursday.

Scott wouldnt say if he is considering a means to block the 15 percent tuition hikes that have been requested by eight of the states 11 public universities if the proposals are approved by the Board of Governors.

As Obama Heads to Florida, New Round of Political Ads Begins

As President Barack Obama prepares to visit Florida on Friday, the television airwaves in the Sunshine State are increasingly full of ads either backing or bashing his bid for a second term.

Obama carried Florida in 2008 and polls show the Sunshine State should be close in November when the president will face Republican candidate former Gov. Mitt Romney of Massachuetts in the general election.

U.S. Chamber Gives Florida A's for Post Secondary Education

Dean Colson, the chairman of the Florida Board of Governors, released the following statement after the U.S. Chamber of Commerce gave Florida A grades for its four- and two-year post secondary education.

It is gratifying to see that Florida was the only state in the nation to achieve an A from the U.S. Chambers annual report card -- for both four-year and two-year public institutions in the Student Access & Success category.

AFP Takes Aim at Obama With New Ad in Florida

On Wednesday, Americans for Prosperity (AFP), a conservative political group that pushes for free market solutions, released a new ad attacking President Barack Obama in several key states including Florida. The group is pouring more than $1 million into Florida to keep the ad on the airwaves for 10 days starting on Wednesday.
