Don Gaetz Backs Rick Scott Removing Non-Citizen Voters

Senate President-designate Don Gaetz, R-Niceville, supported the efforts to clean non-U.S. citizens from the voter rolls and criticized South Florida voting, while on the radio Tuesday morning.

With four civil rights groups posed today in Washington to announce a third lawsuit against Floridas registered voter review, Gaetz said Gov. Rick Scott is doing the right thing to make sure everyone who is qualified can vote, while on the Fort Walton radio station WFTW 1260 AM.

Polytechnic Backers Post Website, Trustee Interviews Continue

The applicant process remains underway for the new Florida Polytechnic University trustees, with no appointments being considered this week by the State Board of Governors.

Meanwhile, community and business leaders in Polk County that have supported the split of the University of South Floridas Lakeland campus into its own school, have launched a website -- www.floridapolyvision.com -- to combat the criticism that has been heaped on the new state university.

Disney to Ship Merchandise Through JaxPort

Walt Disney Co. will begin shipping through JaxPort, Gov. Rick Scott announced Tuesday.

Scott, along with Lt. Gov. Jennifer Carroll, joined Jacksonville Mayor Alvin Brown for the announcement that the Central Florida entertainment mecca would bring its merchandise through the northeast Florida port.

Marco Rubio Not Being Vetted by Mitt Romney Reports ABC News

Jonathan Karl over at ABC News threw some cold water on Florida Republican U.S. Sen. Marco Rubios prospects of ending up as Mitt Romneys running mate. Karl is reporting that Rubio has not yet been vetted by the Romney camp.

Knowledgeable Republican sources tell me that Rubio is not being vetted by Mitt Romneys vice presidential search team. He has not been asked to complete any questionnaires or been asked to turn over any financial documents typically required of potential vice presidential candidates, Karl wrote.

Supreme Court Suspends Law License of Former Orlando Judge

Already removed from the bench, former Orange-Osceola circuit judge, N. James Turner has been suspended from practicing law for 90 days.

The Florida Supreme Court issued the order on Monday.

The conditional guilty plea and consent judgment for discipline are approved and respondent is suspended from the practice of law for 90 days, the court order stated. Respondent has advised that he has not commenced practicing law in the months since he was removed from his judicial office; therefore this suspension is effective immediately.

Hunt is executive editor of Bloomberg News, the man who directs the news agency's Washington coverage.
