Bogdanoff, Rivas Named Florida Retail Legislators of the Year

Florida Sen. Ellyn Bogdanoff, R-Ft. Lauderdale, and Rep. Ana Rivas Logan, R-Miami, have been named 2012 Legislators of the Year by the Florida Retail Federation.

Floridas retailers appreciate the leadership of Senator Bogdanoff and Representative Logan in supporting good public policy and advancing legislation that will create jobs and directly improve the quality of life of our states residents, Rick McAllister, president and CEO of the Florida Retail Federation, stated in a release. Were proud to support two lawmakers who set the highest standard of public service in the Florida Legislature.

Bogdanoff was recognized for her work on unemployment compensation reform, sponsoring Senate Bill 1416, the companion of House Bill 7027, which is expected to save Florida employers approximately $550 million over the next two years and reduced the projected unemployment compensation tax increase by more than $50 per employee in 2012.

Bogdanoff was also a key Senate supporter of e-fairness legislation to level the playing field between online only retailers and Main Street retailers by requiring online only retailers to collect the state sales tax.

Logan, through House Bill 509, backed legislation to allow pharmacists the authority to administer vaccinations for shingles and pneumonia, providing more affordable access to vaccines for preventable illnesses.

The awards will be presented June 20 during the federations annual midyear board meeting in Orlando.

2005 - Rep. Don Brown, Representative of the Year.

2004 - Sen. Nancy Argenziano.
