Marco Rubio Goes to Bat for George Allen in Virginia

U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., continued to remain active in national politics on Wednesday as he went to bat for George Allens attempt to return to the U.S. Senate to represent Virginia.

Slamming Democratic leaders who don't fully believe in the free-enterprise system that control the Senate, Rubio praised Allens political record.

Several years ago, he was one of only 15 senators to vote against the infamous Bridge to Nowhere.He's long advocated for a true balanced budget amendment to our Constitution that will finally force Washington to live within its means, Rubio wrote in an email to supporters sent out on Wednesday trying to garner funds for Allen. As governor he worked to reform welfare, build Virginia's rainy day fund, freeze college tuition, cut taxes and grow the state's economy, creating more than 300,000 net new private-sector jobs. We need George's leadership with us in the Senate.

Rubio slammed the Democratic candidate -- former Gov. Tim Kaine -- who chaired the Democratic National Committee. Rubio trashed Kaine for backing President Barack Obama on the federal stimulus and the health-care law.
