Board of Governors Names Seven-Member Chancellor Search Committee

A group of seven committee members will lead the Board of Governors' search for a new university system chancellor for Florida after Frank Brogan announced he was stepping down from the position and taking his talents to Pennsylvania, where he will serve in a similar position.

Lenny Curry: Florida Democratic Party is the 'Party of No'

Republican Party of Florida Chairman Lenny Curry sank his teeth into the Florida Democratic Party in a statement released Monday, saying that the party continually says "no" to the middle class by bashing Gov. Rick Scott and his proposed $500 million tax cut.

Washington Navy Yard Shooting a 'Planned Assault' According to Allen West

Former U.S. Rep. Allen West, who served in the U.S. Army for more than two decades and on the Armed Services Committee during his term in Congress, weighed in on the Washington Naval Yard shootings on Monday. West insisted a preliminary analysis indicates this was a targeted attack against U.S. Navy Sea Systems Command a planned assault. A favorite of the tea party movement, West has opened the door to a political comeback in 2016.

Florida Higher Ed Leaders Call for Immigration Reform

Higher education leaders from across the state have signed off on a letter urging members of the Florida congressional delegation to support immigration reform. The U.S. Senate passed an immigration reform bill at the end of June but the bill has made little progress in the U.S. House

State Board of Education to Meet in West Palm Beach

The State Board of Education will meet in West Palm Beach on Tuesday, and one of the items on their agenda is approving the next steps to appoint a new commissioner of education.

Pam Stewart has been filling in as interim commissioner of education since Tony Bennett resigned from the position in August after reports surfaced that he had changed the grades of a charter school in Indiana.

Rick Scott to Lead Trade Mission to the Dominican Republic

Enterprise Florida (EFI) announced on Monday that Gov. Rick Scott will lead a trade mission to the Dominican Republic in late February. The Dominican Republic is Floridas ninth-leading trade partner with more than $5.5 billion in exports.
