State Board of Education to Meet in West Palm Beach

The State Board of Education will meet in West Palm Beach on Tuesday, and one of the items on their agenda is approving the next steps to appoint a new commissioner of education.

Pam Stewart has been filling in as interim commissioner of education since Tony Bennett resigned from the position in August after reports surfaced that he had changed the grades of a charter school in Indiana.

The State Board of Education will also approve the 2014-2015 legislative budget at the meeting and willapprove implementation plans for focus and priority schools across the state.

The meeting will be held at 9 a.m. at Forest Hill Community High School in West Palm Beach.
