Just when you thought nobody could make Chris Christie look tea party, who comes strolling into the room but Ohio Gov. John Kasich -- the 16th (and let's hope final) major Republican candidate in the 2016 presidential election. 

I'll bet you knew Kasich leaned a little left of the GOP party line, but did you know what a cheerleader he's become for Obamacare and Medicaid expansion? All he needs is the pompoms, the megaphone and the uniform.

The Trump bump tells us something about the state of American politics. Progressives are panting to interpret his surge as evidence of Republicans' black hearts. Some Donald Trump supporters have suggested that his success, such as it is/was (this is being written after the McCain flap and before polls have gauged its impact), is an indictment of the limp "Republican establishment." It's neither. 

U.S. Rep. David Jolly, R-Fla., wants to make sure the Army can transfer military skills to the workforce, and to that end he gathered congressmen, state lawmakers, trade certification groups and private businessmen to discuss how to make it happen. Among the state lawmakers Jolly invited to participate in a congressional delegation trip to Fort Lee, Va., last week were Reps. Jimmie Smith, R-Inverness, and Larry Ahearn, R-Seminole.
