The Florida Cabinet on Wednesday approved Rick Swearingen taking over as commissioner of the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE). Swearingen, a veteran of more than 30 years with FDLE, had been leading the FDLE on an interim basis since December.

Attorney Henry Lim is running against Rep. Mike Miller, R-Orlando, in a swing Florida House district. 

President Carol Probstfeld of the State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota is now the chairwoman  of the Council of Presidents for the Florida College System, replacing President Jim Henningsen from the College of Central Florida.  

The crowded field of Republican presidential candidates and Vice President Dick Cheney will be headed to Orlando in November as the Republican Party of Florida (RPOF) gets ready for next year’s presidential election. 

Gov. Rick Scott released a statement on Tuesday morning regarding his plans about endorsing a Republican presidential candidate in 2016. Scott held off on endorsing anyone on Tuesday and insisted he would back whichever candidate has the best economic plan.

Gov. Rick Scott announced on Monday that Amazon.com was expanding its operations in Lakeland and Ruskin, creating 2,000 new jobs in fulfillment centers.
