Scheduled to headline a tea party rally in Boca Raton next weekend, Donald Trump is making more presidential rumblings. Is that for real? Is it good for America? While some tea partiers are intrigued, others remain deeply skeptical that a gaming mogul will appeal to the GOP and to the country at large. Lou Illar --gaming expert andauthor of "Believe Me or Your Lying Eyes: An Entertaining History of Casinos, Corruption and Charities in America" -- opines:

Affirming their status as a herd of captive RINOs and closet Democrats, the "No Labels" crowd is oddly excited over the temporary budget agreement reached by Congress late Friday. On behalf of our more than 80,000 citizen leaders, No Labels applauds President Obama and congressional leadership for working across the aisle to reach a bipartisan solution to fund the federal government for the remainder of the year," effused co-founder Mark McKinnon and founding leader David Walker.

A small but significant cadre of Republicans voted against the one-week spending patch that averted a government shutdown late Friday night. One of the chief opponents was Rep. Michele Bachmann, a tea party darling and rising leader in the GOP conservative wing.

CNN reported late Friday that congressional negotiators reached a stopgap agreement to keep the federal government funded for at least another week. The agreement, which includes $39 billion in short-term spending cuts, will run through Thursday. At that time, Congress is expected to approve a longer-term package that will fund the government through Sept. 30.

Gov. Rick Scott has sent out an executive order increasing the ability of his Office of Fiscal Accountability and Regulatory Reform to review regulations involving agencies under the governor's office. Scott created the OFARR in an earlier executive order upon being sworn into office. Since that time, the office has reviewed 11,000 rules and regulations and has recommended 1,000 for repeal.

Sen. Bill Nelson, D-Fla., blamed "extremist ideology" by conservative Republicans for the impending shutdown of the federal government. Speaking to reporters Friday afternoon, Nelson said GOP negotiators' insistence on blocking Title X "women's health" funding -- one-quarter of which goes to Planned Parenthood -- remains the lone obstacle to agreement on a stopgap funding measure. "I hope Speaker [John] Boehner can convince his caucus to pass this agreement," Nelson said.

Two leading national education-reform experts are casting doubt on Senate Bill 736, Florida's newly enacted teacher tenure and performance law. In a podcast last week, Rick Hess of the American Enterprise Institute said the law "isn't ready for prime time." Hess called the successor to last year's vetoed Senate Bill 6 "a step in the right direction," but said it contains the same flaws, notably a "mess" of metrics that have yet to be clarified or agreed upon.

Cancel any lingering illusion that Time magazine is conservative, or competent. Writing at the house that Henry Luce built, Michael Grunwald stubbed his prose when he went after Rep. Paul Ryan. Grunwald erred when he referred to Ryan's Wisconsin congressional district as "conservative." In fact, Barack Obama carried the district in 2008. (Grunwald's sentence was subsequently altered online to read "conservative caucus.")

Gov. Rick Scott addressed the House Select Committee on Government Reorganization on Fridayas the Legislature continued to shape the proposed Department of Economic Opportunity. I want to thank you for taking economic development seriously, said Scott. The bill you will vote on today will provide us the framework we need, said Scott, who argued that the proposed department would provide more flexibility, reduce the duplication of efforts and place work force development and economic development under one umbrella.

As part of its budget discussions Thursday, the Florida Senate passed a measure that would end the discount for users of the state's SunPass system, which allows drivers to breeze through tolls with an electronic pass. Senate President Mike Haridopolos killed that idea Friday, saying he would reinstate the discount, which proponents say would net the state $100 million. But for Haridopolos, who has repeatedly stated his intention not to increase taxes in the face of a $3.8 billion budget shortfall, the measure came too close to a tax hike.

You know we are living in strange times when Michele Bachmann and Harry Reid agree. Signaling that the GOP may be ready to blink in the shutdown showdown, Bachmann, R-Minn., suggested to CNN's John King that Republicans pass a "clean bill" that excises any attempts to halt abortion funding. That same "clean bill" reference was uttered by Senate Majority Leader Reid, D-Nev., Thursday as a prerequisite for approving a stopgap spending bill.
