Time's Michael Grunwald Steps Into National Politics ... Over His Head
Cancel any lingering illusion that Time magazine is conservative, or competent.
Writing at the house that Henry Luce built, Michael Grunwald stubbed his prose when he went after Rep. Paul Ryan.
Grunwald erred when he referred to Ryan's Wisconsin congressional district as "conservative." In fact, Barack Obama carried the district in 2008. (Grunwald's sentence was subsequently altered online to read "conservative caucus.")
Grunwald then trotted out the lamest of liberal cliches by asserting that Ryan would be "courageous" if only he had included tax increases in the "Path to Prosperity" budget plan.
Giving Grunwald the benefit of the doubt, perhaps he is simply out of his depth in attempting to write about national politics.
The Time scribe seemed far more comfortable back in 2008, when he opined about Everglades "restoration" and applauded then-Gov. Charlie Crist's sweetheart land deal with U.S. Sugar. Whoops!
