New Poll: Majority of Florida Voters Pro-Choice but Back Ultrasound Bill
Viewpoint Florida unveiled a new poll on Friday looking at how Floridians view the issue of abortion.
The poll found a majority of those surveyed -- 55 percent -- considered themselves pro-choice while 39 percent labeled themselves pro-life. The poll found no gender gap on the issue, with 55 percent of both men and women considering themselves pro-choice.
However, the numbers flipped on the measure in the Legislature mandating that women considering having abortions have an ultrasound performed, with 55 percent -- including 55 percent of independents and 51 percent of Democrats -- backing the idea and 39 percent opposing. Almost two-thirds of those surveyed -- 63 percent -- did not want public funds used for abortions.
The poll of 803 likely voters was taken on April 7 and April 8 and had a margin of error of +/- 3.5 percent.
