Congressional Negotiators Reach Short-Term Funding Deal

CNN reported late Friday that congressional negotiators reached a stopgap agreement to keep the federal government funded for at least another week.

The agreement, which includes $39 billion in short-term spending cuts, will run through Thursday. At that time, Congress is expected to approve a longer-term package that will fund the government through Sept. 30.

Friday's agreement pushed off the contentious issue of abortion funding, which Republicans sought to block.
