Florida's high school and college students will now have access to new online developmental education courses from a new grant issued by the Florida Department of Education, according to a press release from FLDOE Friday morning. The departmentseeks to increase the number of underrepresented students who enter and remain in higher education through this grant.

The American Conservative Union (ACU) is leading a campaign to impeach U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder due to his actions after George Zimmerman was found not guilty in the death of Trayvon Martin. Gregg Keller of the ACU sent out a message to supporters on Thursday announcing the campaign.

Gov. Rick Scott unexpectedly returned to Tallahassee Thursday evening, where throngs of protesters have been camped out for days to speak out on Stand Your Ground laws in Florida, racial profiling, and the war on youth. Scott sat down with the protesters, many of whom are with an organization called Dream Defenders, a group which has been particularly vocal about their disapproval of Zimmerman's acquittal last Saturday.

"Governor, come home. Come home and talk to these students, these citizens of the state of Florida who are in your lobby. Come home and speak with them," said Williams.

On Thursday afternoon, Gov. Rick Scott announced that the unemployment rate in June remained at 7.1 percent, the same as it had been in May. During June, 2,300 private-sector jobs were created in the Sunshine State. The national unemployment average for June stood at 7.6 percent.

Jacobo had been regional managing director for the department covering Miami-Dade and Monroe counties. The Republican Party of Florida (RPOF) shows no signs of slowing down its attacks on former Gov. Charlie Crist, a former Republican who joined the Democrats in 2012 and is expected to run for his new partys gubernatorial nomination. On Thursday afternoon, the RPOF unveiled the relaunching of a website which was created by the Florida Democratic Party in 2008 to attack Crist who was then being considered by John McCains campaign for the vice presidential spot on the Republican ticket.

Bad news for summer vacationers. Gas prices across the nation, back on the roller coaster, could hit $4 a gallon by Labor Day. Stephen Schork, editor of The Schork Report, an energy newsletter, blames a surge in crude oil prices.

A Democratic senator who helped write Obama's health care administration law is openly saying the program is headed for a 'train wreck' due to problematic implementation. "I just see a huge train wreck coming down," said Senate Finance Committee Chairman Max Baucus, D-Mont., on Wednesday. Baucus is the first to express doubts and fears about the new health care law, which is supposed to give coverage to nearly 30 million Americans without health insurance. The program will provide tax credits for private insurance that will begin next year.
