Snowden, a former contractor for the National Security Agency, has caused quite a bit of controversy since leaking information of a secret surveillance program in which the NSA had been spying on millions of Americans and on people all over the world.

The Bradenton Herald is reporting that Bill Galvano is well on his way to locking up the presidency of the Florida Senate in 2018. According to Sen. Nancy Detert, R-Venice, Galvano already holds signed pledges from most of his large Senate class. The Bradenton senator is eligible to serve 10 consecutive years in the Senate despite term limits because of redistricting.

Rick Scott on Wednesday suspended Liberty County School Superintendent Gloria Gay Uzzell, whoadmitted that since taking office in January, she has run up $12,000 on a school district credit card, with interest and fees mounting. The card has a $10,000 limit. She was arrested and charged with grand theft.

A U.S. military drone plane crashed and exploded Wednesday morning at Tyndall Air Force Base, located about 12 miles east of Panama City. The QF-4 drone plane crashed on the drone runway while taking off, forcing base officials to shut down US 98 through the base. The highway is expected to remain closed for 24 hours.

Appearing in a brief Wolf Blitzer interview on CNN early Wednesday afternoon, Miami Herald reporter Marc Caputo was asked to respond to the news that singer Stevie Wonder would not appear in Florida again until the state repeals its "Stand Your Ground" initiative. Florida isn't going to do that, Caputo told CNN's audience. It has a Republican Legislature, a Republican governor and they favor the law as it's written. "I don't think we'll be seeing Stevie Wonder in Florida ever again," he said.
