Rick Scott Infuses Arizona Defense Fund, Challenges Obama on Immigration

Health care executive Rick Scott, leading in the polls over Attorney General Bill McCollum for the Republican gubernatorial nomination, said that he made a financial contribution to the state of Arizonas legal defense fund to fend off a lawsuit from the federal government over new state immigration laws -- and urged Floridians to do likewise.

Charlie Crist's Special Session, Ban on Drilling Create a 'Net Loss'

Charlie Crist might want to ask himself if the benefits outweigh the costs when it comes to his oil-disaster response. He's being criticized by both Republicans and Democrats for limiting the special session to only focusing on a constitutional ban on oil drilling.

The fact is, it's already illegal to drill for oil off Florida's coast (something Crist himself admitted in an interview on Fox News). Even if the ban had been in place before April, it wouldn't have done anything to prevent the BP oil disaster.

Rehwinkel Vasilinda Hopes Session Tackles Alternative Energy


While Gov. Charlie Crist said when he announced a special session of the Legislature that the only topic covered would be a proposed constitutional amendment against oil drilling in state waters, one House Democrat hopes to add other topics to the agenda. Rep. Michelle Rehwinkel Vasilinda, D-Tallahassee -- who is under fire from primary rival former Leon County Democratic Party chairman Rick Minor for her votes on drilling -- is calling for renewing solar incentives and pushing alternative energies -- something she pushed for ina conference in Tallahassee last month.
