Just like the 12th round of a close title fight when both boxers go for the knockout, Attorney General Bill McCollum and health-care executive Rick Scott, the leading candidates for the Republican gubernatorial nomination, are trying to land uppercuts and hooks before the bell, on this, the last day before the primary.

New Ad from Cancio Attacks David Rivera

While Rep. David Rivera, R-Miami, is the front-runner for the Republican nomination to replace U.S. Rep. Mario Diaz-Balart in Congress, he has been at the center of a number of controversies lately --from chargesabout hitting a truck full of his opponents mailings in 2002 to a domestic violence incident, both of which Rivera hotly disputes. One of his opponents for the Republican nomination, attorney Marili Cancio, is hitting Rivera in a television commercial released on Sunday.It may be too late in the campaign to boost Cancio but Rivera has gotten a load of bad press lately.

Huckabee Team Fires Back at Blog Piece on Endorsement for Sale

With a blog piece from political activist Nick Egoroff -- who resigned from the TEA Party earlier in the summer -- claiming that a source from Rick Scotts camp told him that former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee demanded $250,000 to endorse their candidate, the Huckabee camp is firing back.

Rick Scott Releases Web Video to Get Out the Vote

With two polls released on Monday morning, each one showing a different candidate ahead in the Republican gubernatorial primary, Rick Scott just released a web video in a last-minute effort to encourage his supporters to get out to vote on Tuesday.

Its a clear choice, says Scott in the video before attacking Attorney General Bill McCollum for backing the raising of taxes 42 times.

A Confident Meek Insists He'll Catch up to Rubio and Crist in November

Heartened by two polls released on Monday morning that showed him ahead of Jeff Greene by double digits in the race for the Democratic nomination for the U.S. Senate, U.S. Rep. Kendrick Meek appeared on MSNBCs The Daily Rundown with Chuck Todd.

Meek, who was in Tampa, seemed confident about victory on Tuesday -- though he continued to avoid saying whether he would back Greene if he won the Democratic nomination.

The bare-knuckle brawl between Bill McCollum and Rick Scott has been stoked by two other bitter rivals: their campaign managers, who also happen to be former partners.

Q Poll: McCollum Ahead of Scott, Meek Beating Greene

In stark contrast to the Public Policy Polling poll released Monday, a poll released by Quinnipiac University finds different results. While the PPP poll had Rick Scott ahead of Attorney General Bill McCollum in the Republican gubernatorial primary contest, Quinnipiac had McCollum slightly ahead -- 39 percent to 35 percent.

PPP Poll: Scott Leads McCollum, Meek Crushing Greene

Public Policy Polling released a poll Monday looking at Tuesdays primary races.

A poll of 304 Republicans taken on Aug. 21 and 22 with a margin of error of +/- 5.6 percent had Rick Scott ahead of Bill McCollum in the battle for the Republican gubernatorial nomination. The poll had Scott with 47 percent and McCollum at 40 percent.

NYT: Rubio Veers From Tea Party Script

About eight months ago, the New York Times said Marco Rubio could be the "first senator from the tea party."

But in an article published Sunday, the Gray Lady suggests the Republican U.S. Senate candidate is taking a different approach than other tea-party-minded candidates looking to shake up Washington.

Instead of simply being anti-Washington, Rubio is making it a point to support some policies as well.
