Nineteen years later, U.S. policy is enabling Palestinians to avoid direct negotiations by engaging in "proximity" talks. The Palestinians talk to Americans, who toil to get them back to 1991 -- to direct negotiations. But negotiations about what?
Ground Zero for Freedom
NEW YORK -- It is hard to imagine that anything has gone unsaid about the so-called Ground Zero mosque, but we seem to be missing an important point.
The mosque should be built precisely because we don't like the idea very much. We don't need constitutional protections to be agreeable, after all.

Jeff Atwater Offers Update on Special Session
Senate President Jeff Atwater, R-North Palm Beach, sent out a letter to all senators on a future special session to deal with the economic damage caused by the oil spill in the Gulf. Though Atwater said he is open to a special session, he is waitingto confer withHouse Speaker Larry Cretul, R-Ocala before he can go much further.
Jeff Kottkamp Takes Tea Pledge Against Big Sugar Deal; Bondi, Benson Don't
Score one for Lt. Gov. Jeff Kottkamp by default.
Kottkamp was the lone Republican attorney general candidate to earn a perfect score from Tea Party in Action for signing a pledge to oppose an Everglades land purchase that the group dubs a "Big Sugar bailout."
Kottkamp's rivals in a closely fought attorney general primary -- Pam Bondi and Holly Benson -- declined to sign on.
