A Confident Meek Insists He'll Catch up to Rubio and Crist in November
Heartened by two polls released on Monday morning that showed him ahead of Jeff Greene by double digits in the race for the Democratic nomination for the U.S. Senate, U.S. Rep. Kendrick Meek appeared on MSNBCs The Daily Rundown with Chuck Todd.
Meek, who was in Tampa, seemed confident about victory on Tuesday -- though he continued to avoid saying whether he would back Greene if he won the Democratic nomination.
But Meek seemed less confident about being competitive in November -- and made the case for Democrats to back him and abandon Gov. Charlie Crist, who is running without party affiliation.
Im the sure deal in standing up with the principles of the Democratic Party and the people of Florida, said Meek, who insisted that Democrats would come back to him.
We have general election dollars in holding, said Meek, insisting he would have the money to catch Crist and former House Speaker Marco Rubio, the Republican candidate.
