Gov. Scott Says No to 2012 Run

During a press conference on Florida's emergency operation preparations ahead of hurricane season, Gov. Rick Scott was asked if he would run for president in 2012, with the news of Indiana Gov. Mitch Daniels staying out of the race dwindling the Republican field further. He swiftly shut down the notion.

"I'm not running for president, I don't intend to run for president. There's a lot of great candidates, and it looks like there'll probably even be more," Scott said.

Scott added that he is focused on his main job of getting the state back to work.

$8,800 Worth of Welcome Signs: What's the Ruckus?

May 22, 2011 - 6:00pm

Why are we still hearing about the governor's "extravagant" nameplate on Florida welcome signs? Enough already. As issues go, an $8,800 expense taken from a $69.7 billion budget is about as scandalous as a saucy seaside postcard.

The governor spending tax dollars to spread his name around? It's an easy way to fire up readers. A cheap wind-up toy for a press corps at war with the governor's office.
