Does Money Spent by Voucher Groups Equal Votes?

May 22, 2011 - 6:00pm

When Florida voted in 2001 to create a corporate tax credit voucher program for low-income students, only one Democrat supported the idea.

Ten years later, when it came time to vote on a bill (HB 965) that expanded the amount of tax credit a company gets for making a donation to a school voucher program, 24 Democrats chose to support the bill.

Thats a remarkable policy shift for Democrats, who started out nearly united in their opposition to vouchers.

According to a page-topping story in Politico Sunday, the Indiana governor wrote to supporters in an e-mail just after midnight that he will not run for president in 2012. He said he made the decision based on lack of support from his family.

Apparently unsatisfied with statutes that already prohibit indecent exposure and lewd and lascivious behavior, Utah is bootstrapping prostitution charges.

Declaring "Republican Hurricane Season," the Wall Street Journal on Saturday blasted Florida's GOP lawmakers for failing to substantively reform the state's casualty insurance system.

Extending its umbrage to Rick Scott, the bible of business said the governor "risked hyperbole" when his office claimed that new insurance legislation was "a significant step toward making Florida more competitive and attracting new companies into the state."

ABC's Partial-Birth Hero

May 20, 2011 - 6:00pm

As far as I'm concerned, there's a circle in hell reserved for late-term abortionists. But this is the Obama era, so Hollywood makes TV shows casting them as heroic figures. Such is the state of our popular culture.
