LeBron: The John Lennon of the Miami Heatles
UPDATED: He's worth that $14.5 million now, Florida. Just look at LeBron James when Miami needs him most. Does anybody think he isn't the star of the hottest rock band on the NBA's 2011 stage?
LeBron, called the Sunshine State's 6-foot-8, 250-pound "best import of 2010," staggered during the regular season, but at just the right time, during three of Miami's last four playoff wins, he's made a dramatic turnaround and taken charge.
Court Rejects Marcelo Llorente's Bid to Reinstate Sunday Polling in Miami
A Miami judge on Friday rejected a candidate's bid to reinstate Sunday's early voting in the Miami-Dade special election.
The county government had canceled the Sunday voting hours earlier in the week, ostensibly because of state legislation curtailing early voting periods.
But, noting that Gov. Rick Scott had not signed the bill at the time of the cancellation, mayoral candidate Marcelo Llorente sued the county. Circuit Court Judge Barbara Areces, after a day of deliberation, threw out Llorente's complaint Friday afternoon.

Democrats Nationalized Jacksonville Mayoral Runoff
A Democrat's upset victory in Jacksonville's mayoral election was trumpeted as a major blow to Republicans and a repudiation of Gov. Rick Scott in particular.
According to the story line touted by Democratic activists and amplified by Florida's mainstream media last week, Alvin Brown's election confirmed that Scott is the "kiss of death" to the GOP's electoral prospects.

Republicans Locked and Loaded for Miami-Dade's Mayoral Race
In the wake of a surprising Democratic victory in Jacksonville's mayoral election last week, the contest for the top job in Miami-Dade is a Republican-only affair.
County Commissioner Carlos Gimenez and Hialeah Mayor Julio Robaina are the clear leaders in the polls ahead of Tuesday's special election, and are expected to advance to a runoff.
Democrats are virtual nonentities in the 11-candidate field. In the race for campaign cash, the top four hopefuls are Hispanic Republicans. That's the way Florida's most populous county rolls in local elections.
Carol Wehle Cleared of Using Influence to Get Her Boyfriend Hired at SFWMD
State investigators cleared the air for Carol Wehle this week, finding no evidence that she used her executive director position at South Florida Water Management District to help her boyfriend get a $120,000-a-year job there.
In a 33-page report dated May 16, investigators with the Department of Environmental Protection also found for John Williams, the district's inspector general. They said there is no evidence he acted improperly when he hired Bob Howard, Wehle's boyfriend, as engineering auditor. Howard did not use his relationship to win the job, the report said.
