Florida Bar Dismisses Complaint Against John Stemberger

Big win last week for conservative leader John Stemberger, best known for his role with the Florida Family Policy Council. The Florida Bar dismissed a complaint brought against Stemberger who is the attorney for Rifga Bara, who converted from Islam to Christianity and fled her family and community up in Ohio. Omar Tarazi, an Ohio attorney and Muslim who represents Baras parents, filed a $10 million defamation lawsuit and a complaint with the Florida Bar against Stemberger for comments the Florida conservative made on Fox News. While the lawsuit remains in the courts, the Florida Bar dismissed Tarazis complaint.

"I believe the bringing of this case was a great injustice because I would not be here without the aid of this man's counsel in my court hearing, said Bara. "With a wife and four children, he still spent countless hours each day, without pay, fighting for my freedom and safety ... even to the point of it costing his health. I believe Mr. Stemberger to be a man of absolute integrity and honesty."

"Integrated Bar associations around the country are slowly losing their identities as merely professional associations created to educate and regulate lawyers. Instead, many are becoming increasingly ideological and political, said Stemberger. Additionally, many institutions of society, including bar associations, are bending over backward to accommodate members of Islam as a new protected class. Instead of championing constitutional free speech rights, bar organizations are opting for enforcing political correctness."
