Sandy Adams Proposes HUBZones for Space Coast
With the Obama administration pulling the plug on the space shuttle program, Florida Republican Congresswoman Sandy Adams is hoping to keep NASA workers on the Space Coast. Adams, a freshman who representsparts of Brevard,Orange, Seminole and Volusia counties, introduced legislation Wednesday which she labeled theShuttle Workforce Revitalization Act of 2011.
It's a bill to keep NASA workers in the area by launching a historically underutilized business zone (HUBZone) inBrevard County.

Sunshine State News ranks among "The Best State Political Blogs," according to a national compilation by the Washington Post.
Post columnist Chris Cillizza lists Sunshine State News in a 50-state compendium of top political sites at his page, "The Fix."
Cillizza said his selection process was "entirely driven by Fix readers and commenters," adding the legalistic caveat: "Many of the blogs are partisan and may use language and/or images that neither 'The Fix' nor the Washington Post condones."

Lizbeth Benacquisto New Deputy GOP Leader in Florida Senate
On Wednesday, Sen. Lizbeth Benacquisto, R-Wellington, was named as a deputy majority leader in the Florida Senate.
Benacquisto, who represents parts of Charlotte, Glades, Hendry, Lee, Palm Beach and St. Lucie counties, was elected to the Senate in 2010. Shell serve under Senate Majority Leader Andy Gardiner, R-Orlando, and in the leadership with two fellow freshmen who are whips -- Anitere Flores of Miami and David Simmons of Maitland.

George LeMieux Signs Grover Norquist's Tax Pledge
On Wednesday, former U.S. Sen. George LeMieux, running in the Republican primary to take on Democratic U.S. Sen. Bill Nelson in 2012, announced that he had signed the pledge backed by Americans for Tax Reform to oppose tax increases. Americans for Tax Reform is led by conservative activist Grover Norquist who has been on center stage during the recent debate on the federal debt ceiling.

With barely a week to go until the presidential straw poll in Ames held by the Iowa GOP, supporters of Texas Republican U.S. Rep. Ron Paul focused on Iowa on Wednesday. Revolution PAC, which is backing Paul, announced on Wednesday it was buying a full-page ad for its candidate in the Ames Tribune and putting up billboards across the state.

One Investigation Not Enough: Dems Want Feds to Look at Attorney Firings
Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi called for an independent investigation of her office's firing of two foreclosure-fraud prosecutors this week, but state Democrats aren't satisfied.
Rep. Darren Soto, D-Orlando, and Sen. Eleanor Sobel, D-Hollywood, sent letters Wednesday to U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder and U.S. Sen. Bill Nelson, asking the Department of Justice to look into the recent dismissal of two state prosecutors involved in investigating foreclosure mills.
