Rick Santorum Wins Louisiana Primary

Nothing unexpected happened Saturday in Louisiana as Rick Santorum easily won the Republican presidential primary in the Bayou State, beating front-runner Mitt Romney in another conservative Southern state.

Were still here. Were still fighting. We still believe, as this race really shows, Santorum told supporters 1,500 miles away in a brewery in Green Bay, Wis.

He said Romney had called to congratulate him.

Dick Cheney Undergoes Heart Transplant

An "unknown donor" presented former Dick Cheney with the gift of life Saturday, when surgeons at a Virginia hospital performed a heart transplant on the former vice president.

Cheney, 71, had suffered five heart attacks over the past 25 years. He waited nearly two years for his new heart and is said to be recovering well in the intensive care unit of Inova Fairfax Hospital in Falls Church, Va.

Some Senators Facing Tough Political Choices

With the new Senate maps expected to easily pass the House next week, lawmakers in the upper chamber and potential candidates for those seats are beginning to evaluate their electoral futures.

For a few, the decisions are where and whether to run for another term. And at least one legislative leader is already openly pondering whether to serve out the four-year term he would be awarded by the literal bounce of the ping-pong ball.

Rick Scott Signs Law to Expand Synthetic Drug Ban in Florida

Attorney General Pam Bondi thanked Gov. Rick Scott on Friday for signing a bill she backed, HB 1175, that would expand the list of banned synthetic drugs in Florida.

This law bans dangerous new synthetic drugs and will clear Florida's store shelves of substances that are harming young people, Bondi stated in a release.

Rick Scott Signs Bill Allowing Student-Led School Prayer

School districts across Florida will get to decide if their students can give prayers and other inspirational messages at school events as long as school district employees are not involved.

Gov. Rick Scott signed HB 98 Friday. It becomes law July 1.

The bill, opposed primarily by Democrats during the legislative session, was sponsored by Gary Siplin, D-Orlando.
