On Tuesday, Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney received a major endorsement in Pennsylvania -- the home state of Rick Santorum, his main rival for the GOP nomination. U.S. Rep. Mike Fitzpatrick, R-Pa., announced that he was backing Romney. Like Santorum, who was defeated by current U.S. Sen. Bob Casey, D-Pa,, Fitzpatrick lost his seat in 2006 but he would rebound to reclaim it in the 2010 elections.

Gov. Rick Scott signed an executive order Tuesday that ended the suspension of Beth Flansbaum-Talabisco from her elected position as mayor of Tamarac.
Flansbaum-Talabisco was suspended from office on March 9, 2011, after she was arrested on four public corruption charges involving two South Florida developers who sought her support in building projects in the South Florida city.
On March 14, 2012, Circuit Judge Cynthia G. Irnperato dismissed the charges, ruling there was no evidence she received personal benefit from the developers.

Economic development leaders in Florida announced Tuesday that 400 jobs could be coming to Florida through a company from India landing in Gainesville -- and the expansion of an existing business in northern Palm Beach County.

As gas prices continue to rise, a poll from Rasmussen Reports released on Tuesday finds that a plurality -- 48 percent of American adults -- want to see the federal government temporarily remove the federal gas tax until prices are lower.
While 12 percent are not sure, 40 percent think the federal gas tax should remain in place at this time.
The poll of 1,000 adults was taken March 24-25 and had a margin of error of +/- 3 percent.
The federal fuel tax is 18.4 cents per gallon for gasoline and 24.4 cents for diesel fuel.

Teamsters Local 2011 has filed a legal challenge to restore the requirement that probation officers visit the homes of certain criminals on probation.
Ron Silver, the Teamsters attorney, called the personal contact the main way probation officers monitor offenders.

A two-year investigation into insurance fraud has resulted in 15 arrests in Miami where lunch trucks were used to stage more than a dozen crashes, resulting in more than $800,000 in property damage and personal injury protection claims, state Chief Financial Officer Jeff Atwater announced Tuesday.
