U.S. Women's National Team Begins Pursuit of World Cup Tonight

Floridians will join soccer fans across America this evening when the U.S. women's national soccer team begins its quest for a third World Cup championship. It's U.S. vs. Australia, first game for both teams. USA is ranked No. 2 after Germany; The Matildas of Australia are No. 10. 

Scott Turns to Courts for Mediation In Medicaid Expansion Lawsuit

Gov. Rick Scott continues to haggle with the federal government in court, filing a motion on Monday to compel mediation in U.S. district court.The motion is another action in the long, ongoing lawsuit between Florida and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services over the state’s Low Income Pool funding.

Debbie Wasserman Schultz Names 2016 Convention Team

U.S. Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, D-Fla., hasn’t exactly covered herself in glory at her post as chairwoman of the Democratic National Committee (DNC) since the 2012 presidential election but in Philadelphia on Monday she named the team overseeing the the 2016 Democratic National Convention Committee (DNCC).

Jeb Bush Honors Mother's 90th Birthday with Literacy Push Before 2016 Launch

Former Gov. Jeb Bush, R-Fla., made a big announcement on Monday -- but it wasn’t the one the political world has been waiting for. 

Bush announced back in December that he was exploring running for president in 2016 and formed the Right to Rise PAC to help his efforts to follow in his father’s and brother’s path to the White House. Next Monday, at an event in Miami, Bush is expected to formally launch his presidential bid. 

Adrian Wyllie Back as Chairman of Florida Libertarians

After winning almost 225,000 votes as the Libertarian gubernatorial candidate last year, Adrian Wyllie vowed to stay active and build the party in the Sunshine State. 

Over the weekend,  Libertarian Party of Florida (LPF) met in New Port Richey and chose Wyllie to be the party chairman, a post he has held before. Lynn House will be the vice chair.

Vowing to fight for a “conservative agenda” in Washington, D.C., former New Smyrna Beach Mayor Adam Barringer kicked off his bid for the Republican nomination to replace U.S. Rep. Ron DeSantis, R-Fla., in Congress. With DeSantis running for the U.S. Senate in 2016, the GOP is expected to have an easy time holding onto this seat in a solidly Republican district.

And while my last such exercise resulted in a written apology from the White House (for accusing me of making up facts over its removal of Churchill's bust), today's is not a complaint. It's merely a recognition that the huge response elicited by last week's column, "Why Doctors Quit," warrants both rebuttal and clarification.
