In recent years, Martin, St. Lucie and Indian River Counties have spent millions dealing with lawsuits on the environment and All Aboard Florida/Brightline (AAF).

The American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC), the nation’s largest organization of state legislators, recently published a report on the growing problems state pension plans are causing.

U.S. Rep. Brian Mast, R-Fla., continues to take aim at All Aboard Florida (AAF).

This week, the 60 Plus Association is focusing on the Sunshine State, promoting its “Taxpayer Revolt Tour” across Florida. 

The 60 Plus Association, the largest conservative seniors group and often a check on the more liberal AARP, notes that its mission in Florida this week is to to raise awareness of three of its chief priorities at the federal level: ending the Death Tax; a full repeal of former President Barack Obama’s health care law; and rolling back regulations enacted by the Obama administration.

One of the biggest fights in Tallahassee is over Enterprise Florida and its funding. While most of the attention is on the showdown between Gov. Rick Scott and state House Speaker Richard Corcoran, other voices on the right are also weighing in on the battle over Enterprise Florida and what’s at stake as the legislative session continues. 

Since 2014, the team behind All Aboard Florida (AAF) and Brightline has known that expanding rail in the Space Coast and the Treasure Coast would not be an easy sell. Over the past year, All Aboard Florida officials have expressed optimism after winning court battles and obtaining permits to move forward.

Over the last few weeks, protesters against President Donald Trump have been showing up at local Republican rallies in Northeast Florida.

In recent weeks, opponents of All Aboard Florida’s (AAF) Brightline project insist they have scored some major victories against the expansion of high-speed rail. Groups like Citizens Against The Train (CATT) have boasted the main reason why AAF’s expansion has slowed is because of  taxpayer-funded lawsuits against the project.

Talkers magazine, well regarded in the talk radio community, has looked at the top stories and people of the last year and, not surprisingly, the presidential race overshadowed everything else. 

The elections in Florida are coming down to who has the better ground game to bring out their voters.
