So Gov. Rick Scott signed HB 633, the abortion-waiting-period bill. What else is new? Another year, another opportunity for Florida to shame a woman.

You have to ask yourself, what's next? You know there's going to be a something-next. This bill that mandates a woman terminating her pregnancy make back-to-back visits to the medical clinic within 24 hours is all part of a coordinated, national strategy to end access to safe, legal abortion. I'm sure of it.

Ron DeSantis, Mike Lee Team Up on Transportation Reform, Lower Gas Tax

U.S. Rep. Ron DeSantis, R-Fla., currently running for the U.S. Senate seat held by U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., unveiled a proposal to reduce the federal gas tax on Wednesday. 

DeSantis teamed up with U.S. Sen. Mike Lee, R-Utah, a frequent legislative partner of Rubio’s, to unveil the Transportation Empowerment Act on Wednesday. The proposal would cut the federal gas tax by 14.6cents over a gallon over a five-year period to 3.7 cents and give the states more power on how to spend federal monies for transportation and infrastructure projects.

Senate Candidate Murphy Takes It on the Chin for Minimum Wage Hike Proposal

U.S. Rep. Patrick Murphy, running for the Democratic nomination to replace U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., doubled down Wednesday on his support for raising the minimum wage, drawing fire from the Republican Party of Florida (RPOF).

“What helps workers, businesses, and the economy as a whole?” Murphy asked on Wednesday. “Raising the minimum wage. That's why I'm sponsoring the Raise the Wage Act in the House. The Raise the Wage Act would raise the federal minimum wage to $12 an hour by 2020, and it would benefit more than 2.2 million Floridians.
