Largest-Ever Medicare and Medicaid Fraud 'Takedown' Nets 73 in South Florida

Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi joined federal authorities Thursday, including the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Department of Health and Human Services, the Office of Personnel Management and the Food and Drug Administration, to announce the charges of 73 South Florida residents for their alleged participation in various schemes to defraud Medicare and Medicaid out of more than $262 million.

Ted Deutch Looks to End Quotas at For-Profit Illegal Immigrant Detention Centers

On Thursday, U.S. Rep. Ted Deutch, D-Fla., brought out the “Protecting Taxpayers and Communities from Local Detention Quotas Act.” The bill stops the federal Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) from getting “ into contracts that provide specific detention centers with prepaid, guaranteed numbers of detainees each day.” Deutch pointed to reports that at least 15 for-profit detention centers with ICE contracts have quotas.

Rick Scott Showcases Florida's Rising GDP

Gov. Rick Scott said on Thursday that Florida’s real gross domestic product (GDP) in 2014 stood at almost $770 billion, up 2.7 percent from the year before, higher than the national increase of 2.2 percent, making Florida the state with the fourth largest GDP in the nation.

Marco Rubio Calls for Accountability at OPM, Obama Administration Over Cyberattack

Presidential hopeful U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., weighed in on the data breach at the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) in which more than 4 million Americans had their information stolen. Rubio called for accountability at OPM and the White House while warning about China which is believed to have launched the cyberattack.

Jeb Bush, who converted to Catholicism, has a papal problem -- and taking a page from the liberal playbook isn't exactly helping. 

Appearing on Sean Hannity‘s show on Fox News this week, Bush was asked about Pope Francis‘ encylical on climate change. 

“I think religion ought to be about making us better as people, less about things [that] end up getting into the political realm,” Bush told Hannity. 

Bush doubled down on his opposition to the pope at an event in New Hampshire on Tuesday.
