December 8, 2015 - 3:45pm

While virtually every Floridian has some interaction with state government,‭ ‬it is easy for the average citizen to feel distanced from the political process of Tallahassee.‭ ‬And it can be easy for our elected leaders to feel distanced from their constituents if they do not regularly hear from the voters.

But every Floridian has a unique opportunity to share suggestions on how to make their state government more efficient and effective.

Florida Supreme Court Decision on Congressional Redistricting Hurts Minority Representation

December 2, 2015 - 5:00pm

Today’s ruling by the Supreme Court of the state of Florida is just what I expected because the entire process has been tainted from the very beginning. Beyond a doubt, today’s ruling and the proposed congressional map is a direct attack on minority voters and a clear example of voter retrogression and disenfranchisement.  As a response, and in accordance with the 1965 Voting Rights Act, I have filed a federal lawsuit to repeal the proposed congressional map.

Referring to ISIS,‭ ‬President Obama made the following claims mere hours before the horrific terrorist attacks took place in Paris,‭ ‬France:‭ "‬I don't think they're gaining strength.‭ ‬What is true is that‭ ‬from the start,‭ ‬our goal has been first to contain and we have contained them.‭ ‬They have not gained ground in Iraq,‭ ‬and in Syria they'll come in,‭ ‬they'll leave,‭ ‬but you don't see this systemic march by ISIL across the terrain.‭"  ‬Flippantly,‭ ‬the president also referred to ISIS as a‭ “‬JV team,‭” ‬quipping that if ISIS were to‭ “‬put on Lakers uniform,‭ ‬that doesn’t make them Kobe Bryant.‭”
