After 10 Glorious Years, Sunshine State News and I Are Passing the Baton

While Democrats in Florida continue to look for ways to cash in on Rick Scott's low approval numbers, since Saturday a lot of folks in D.C. are looking at the Florida governor with a whole lot more admiration and respect than he's getting currently in the Sunshine State. It's his travel philosophy they like. And it's President Obama's that has these folks pitching fits. Seems last Saturday President Obama commissioned Air Force One to travel 90 miles from the White House to a campaign rally near Richmond, Va., a location only 90 miles away.

Gov. Rick Scott will spend Thursday as a park ranger in Hillsborough County, as well as carrying out other state park duties, as part of his continuing Lets Get to Work Day series. The 11th Work Day will have Scott working the front gate at Hillsborough River State Park in Thonotosassa, as well as conducting landscaping maintenance, checking campgrounds, working as a concession server and offering a tour of Fort Foster.

In his battle against former Rep. Aaron Bean for the Republican nomination for a seat in the Florida Senate representing parts of the First Coast, Rep. Mike Weinstein, R-Jacksonville, garnered a major endorsement on Wednesday, as well, when the Jacksonville Fraternal Order of Police announced it was backing him.

Public health officials from the federal government, the state and for the city of Jacksonville said Monday they're going to test the entire homeless population in Duval County for tuberculosis. It's the best way to minimize the spread of the disease, they said.
