Pooh-poohing a Sunshine State News Poll that shows him trailing Republican Daniel Webster by 7 points, Rep. Alan Grayson declared today, "I'm winning." In an interview with TalkingPointsMemo.com, the first-term congressman sounded incredulous that he could be losing after his earlier internal campaign poll showed him ahead of Webster 13 points. "I don't know how anybody could possibly believe we've dropped 20 points," the Orlando Democrat mused.

The battle for veterans' votes in Florida's 22nd Congressional District intensified today, as Rep. Ron Klein claimed the endorsement of the VFW PAC. On Thursday, Klein, D-Boca Raton, landed the support of Veterans and Military Families for Progress. The VFW PAC said it backed Klein "based on (his) strong support for veterans, national security and defense, and military personnel issues. Both endorsements were dismissed by Klein's Republican opponent, retired Army Lt. Col. Allen West.

In an interview with a South Florida TV station Friday afternoon, a reporter asked Gov. Charlie Crist how he keeps fit. He told the reporter he exercises regularly, and eats only one meal a day. "You don't even snack?" asked the reporter. "I did today." Crist responded. "Sometimes I break the normal routine,"

Sen. Dan Gelber of Miami Beach campaigned in Republican rival Pam Bondis backyard on Friday. In front of the Hillsborough County Courthouse in Tampa, Gelber took aim at pill mills. Prescription-drug abuse in Florida has become an epidemic, largely fueled by pill mills and doctor shopping, said Gelber, who noted that a bill he sponsored on the matter took effect on Friday. As attorney general, I intend to shut these operations down through aggressive enforcement, coordination with local government and law enforcement, and strong, common-sense regulation.

Rasmussen Reports released a survey of 750 likely voters that shows Republican candidate Rick Scott edging state CFO Alex Sink, the Democratic candidate, in the gubernatorial contest. Scott pulled 46 percent while Sink carried 41 percent. The poll occurred on Sept. 30 and had a margin of error of +/- 4 percent.

Former Assistant State Attorney Pam Bondi, the Republican candidate for attorney general, unveiled the backing of 25 current and former sheriffs on Friday. These sheriffs included Kevin Rambosk of Collier County, David Gee of Hillsborough County, Larry Campbell of Leon County,Jim Coats of Pinellas County, Grady Judd of Polk County, Tom Knight of Sarasota County and David Shoar of St. Johns County.

While gubernatorial candidate Rick Scott may be campaigning with former Gov. Mitt Romney on Friday, another possible candidate for the Republican presidential nomination is also standing behind the Florida Republican: Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty. Pawlentys Freedom First PAClavished praise on Scott at its website.

Ken Connor of the Center for a Just Society weighed in on Friday with his take on Stephen Colberts testimony to Congress earlier in the month. Connor, best known for his stint as chairman of the Family Research Council, also headed up Florida Right-to-Life and ran for the Republican gubernatorial nomination in 1994.

Republican U.S. Sen. George LeMieux is not the only Floridian in Congress weighing in on the IRS allowing a tax deduction for citizens impacted by paying for drywall repairs. Democrat U.S. Sen. Bill Nelson had his say as well late Thursday. This is welcome and long overdue news, said Nelson. This tax relief is just another important step to help drywall victims piece their lives back together.

A clever new ad from Gov. Charlie Crist attacks his U.S. Senate rival Marco Rubio for spending on the Republican Party of Florida credit card. Taking after the 'Priceless' Mastercard commercials, it points out certain personal items that were reported on the party card -- expenditures that Rubio said he promptly paid back. But is this an example of Crist trying to get the biblical mote out of Rubio's eye, while he's got a beam in his own?

President Barack Obama may be bringing Alex Sink down with him. Republican gubernatorial candidate Rick Scott holds a 49 to 43 percent lead over his Democratic rival, according to a Quinnipiac University poll of likely voters. Those likely voters have an overall low opinion of Obama. Some of Scott's ads have linked Sink to Obama and the strategy appears to be working.

Almost a year after he asked the IRS to allow taxpayers to deduct expenses resulting from drywall damage, Republican U.S. Sen. George LeMieux announced on Thursday that the IRS agreed to the request. Homeowners affected by contaminated drywall have been waiting too long for relief, said LeMieux. This allowance is welcome news. Homeowners with contaminated drywall have had to endure a nightmare, added the senator. This is an element of relief that will help alleviate at least a portion of the burden homeowners have endured.
