Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, who will be hitting the campaign trail with Republican gubernatorial candidate Rick Scott on Friday, leads a new poll of possible 2012 Republican presidential hopefuls.
Romney, who ran in 2008, topped the Gallup poll with 19 percent. Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin placed second with 16 percent. Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, who ran in 2008 and has since moved to Florida, came in third with 12 percent. Two other candidates took more than 5 percent -- former U.S. House Speaker Newt Gingrich with 9 percent and U.S. Rep. Ron Paul of Texas in fifth with 7 percent.
