National and state flags will be at half-staff Friday across Florida for Neil Armstrong. Gov. Rick Scott ordered the flags lowered at all local and state buildings, installations and grounds in honor of Armstrong, the first man to walk on the moon, who died Aug. 25. Scotts order follows a proclamation from President Obama to lower national flags at all federal facilities.

Luke Marchant, the political director for U.S. Sen. Marco Rubios 2010 Senate campaign has joined Charlie Summers campaign for the open Senate race in Maine. Marchant will serve as field director, according to the Bangor Daily News.

Organizers of the Republican National Convention hope the former mayor of Carmel-by-the-Sea, California will help make the day for the GOPs Presidential candidate Mitt Romney. Oscar-winning director and actor Clint Eastwood, who has endorsed Romney, will hit the stage Thursday as a mystery speaker, according to The Hill.

Florida Chief Financial Officer Jeff Atwater says Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney's manner of speaking to individual entrepreneurs is the right approach for Florida. I think last nights kickoff was extraordinarily strong, so I think were off to a good start, Atwater said while on FOX Business News early Wednesday. Gov. Rick Scott is in Key West to promote Florida tourism in the wake of Hurricane Isaac. Scott is scheduled to visit several locations and hold a press conference at the Ernest Hemingway House on Whitehead Street to let the world know Florida beaches are open for business, according to a release from the Governor's Office.

Gov. Rick Scott has activated the states disaster fund to provide assistance for those impacted by tropical storms Debby and now Isaac.
