RPOF Brings in Its Own Buses for Florida's Delegates
The Republican Party of Florida is going to provide its own buses to the Republican National Convention starting Wednesday afternoon to avoid delays that kept some delegate from returning to their Palm Harbor resort until nearly 3 a.m.
Some delegates had considered driving into the downtown from Innisbrook Resort and Golf Club, where the state's delegates are located as a punishment for Florida holding an early presidential preference primary, because of the bus Situation.
Delegates that arrived to be picked up at 2 p.m. on Tuesday to head downtown found that the buses had not been sent. After the event, some delegates got on the buses shortly after the convention wrapped up for the night, but sat idle as drivers worked out assignments.
Some delegates that went to a post-convention concert returned home before those that intended to return to Innisbrook immediately after New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie ended his remarks just before 11 p.m.
Before the RPOF announced it would provide transportation, Agriculture Commissioner Adam Putnam, who has hosted the daily 'Fresh From Florida' breakfasts, called out the RNC for the bus situation.
Hopefully the RNC will get this bus thing straightened out, Putnam said Wednesday morning.
