On Friday, Gov. Rick Scott announced that the state unemployment rate dropped from 7.1. percent in July to 7 percent in August. This marks six months of Floridas unemployment rate being below the national average. Since Scott took over from former Gov. Charlie Crist, the unemployment rate in Florida has dropped from 11.1 percent to 7 percent and there have been 365,500 new jobs in the private sector.
