Florida Realtors Show Support for Rick Scott's Tax Cuts
Florida Realtors association is showing its support of Gov. Rick Scott's proposal to cut $500 million in taxes and fees from next year's state budget.
Dean Asher, president of Florida Realtors, wrote the following to the governor on Thursday:
"On behalf of the 118,000 Florida Realtors, I urge your support for the lowering of the sales tax currently charged on commercial leases in Florida. This legislation has been a Florida Realtors' priority and will help Florida rebound from the recent recession. An eventual full repeal of this tax has the potential of adding 185,000 jobs to the state's economy. Business leaders are aware of the economic benefits of a sales tax cut on commercial leases and we are excited that many of them shared their thoughts with you at all five stops of your tax cut listening tour last week."
We appreciate the opportunity to provide you and your administration with input and believe that lowering the applicable sales tax for commercial leases this year will help businesses put more than $200 million into our economy," Asher wrote. "Florida Realtors believes these businesses will hire more workers, purchase more goods, and be able to lease more space and expand their businesses if this is done.Thank you for your consideration of this important issue for Florida Realtors and other professions concerned with commercial leases."
